Help I’m Alive – Metric
If there’s one guy whose music video links I don’t ignore, it’s my ex-colleague Tay. Emily Haines’ voice is like an angel’s.

U2 live… on YouTube
The stream sucks because our connection is so 3rd world…
But I just wanted to release some excitement of hearing them play an old classic! They’re playing The Unforgettable Fire now, sighh…

Omg Sunday Bloody Sunday. The Edge rocks.

They dedicated ‘Walk On’ to Aung San Suu Kyi and got volunteers and Amnesty International to walk out. Isn’t the stadium massive?
“One” is playing now!! Or at least, I’m hearing it now, lol. My stream’s a bit slow. They got Desmond Tutu to give inspiring words and then it lead to the song. Amazing!
Here’s another screenshot of how huge the place is.

And omg again!! Bono started out with Amazing Grace, and then the strains of “Where The Streets Have No Name” start coming in. Awesome stuffff. I forgot how much I love U2!
More stadium madness:

Whoa… another great classic, one of the most loved rock ballads, “With Or Without You”. I love the extra stanzas they add for their live performances. Wonder if they’ll do it here. (Guess not!)
Bono asked everyone to hold their phones up. Isn’t it cool? Like a little Milky Way.

They said good bye

The rebroadcast is starting soon. Awesome stuff, U2… thanks for making my day!

Whoaa… I almost freaked out. I felt… light, happy, like Providence finally a nice gift for me! Even though it’s right now kind of a “might”, “maybe” thing and a million things could come and fuck it up, like PAS Youth declaring the band will corrupt the youth and get them barred from entering or imposing stupid restrictions that’ll turn the band off this country for 3 lifetimes… I still felt, wow, there is nothing like the present that is full of open doors of opportunities…
Lol.
I immediately Googled Ed Ved for a little evening fix.

Okay just add a bit more scruffiness and a bit more weight, and he looks practically the same today
The last I checked last week, Rock Corner still hasn’t brought in Backspacer the new album. Curse you, currrseee you Rock Corner. I’ll go check it again today.

A song I like by Jimi
Oh, remember the mocking bird, my baby bun
He used to sing for his supper, baby
Yes he used to sing for his supper, babe
He used to sing so sweet
Since my baby left me he ain’t sang for two long days
Oh, remember the blue-birds and the honey bees,
They used to sing for sunshine
They used to sing for the flowers
They used to sing so sweet
But since my baby left me they ain’t sang in two long days
Hey pretty baby, come on back to me
Make every body as happy as can be
So, baby, if you’ll please come home again you know I’ll
Kiss you for my supper,
You know I’ll kiss you for my dinner, yeah!
But, ah, if you dont come back you know I’ll have to
Starve to death
‘Cus I ain’t had one kiss all day now
Please remember
You’ve got to remember
You’ve got to remember our love
Come on back, baby, come on back in my arms,
I’ll make everything that better
Come on, baby, hurry up now
Can you hear me calling you back again now?
Come on, baby, stop jiving around, hurry home, hurry home

Serj Tankian and System of a Down
The former is the lead singer of the latter, and he has this awesome solo album which I’m currently obsessing over. Perhaps I’ll grab the CD soon.

Some cool songs by the Borat lookalike from his Elect The Dead album:
- The Unthinking Majority (live performance; vocals are awesome)
- Lie Lie Lie (Infectious tune; read somewhere that it’s a tale about incest, but meant to be humorous)
- Sky Is Over
- Empty Walls (I like how they use the kids in the nursery as metaphors for scenes from the war in Iraq. And having him sit in their midst playing on a toy piano is quirky yet dramatic)
Some stuff by SoaD that’s repeating ad infinitum on my playlist:
- Chop Suey (It’s already achieved like rock anthem status or something)
- Lonely Day (Melancholy stuff)
- Aerials
- B.Y.O.B
Another thing I love about rockers like Ed Ved and Serj aside from their awesome vocals, awesome songs and awesome live performances, is the fact that they use their fame for good causes. They are each social and political activists in their own right, either through their non-profit organizations or the messages in their songs. It really sets them apart from those sellout bands and singers nowadays.
